Israel is well known for its technology in the fields of electronics, communications and the Internet. The state of its development and the achievements it has made are encouraging. From the more basic components, chip design, assembly and testing industries to technology development in consumer electronics, security and digital entertainment, Israeli companies are at the forefront of the world.
Reporter: After the outbreak of the ** financial crisis, the global electronics industry has been affected to some extent. Israel is one of the most important electronic technology exporters in the world. What measures have been taken to deal with the ** financial crisis?
AviHeftz: In response to the financial crisis, the Israel Export and Human Rights Association will launch a project to help domestic Israeli companies export. The project started in the BRIC countries (China, India, Russia and Brazil) and gradually expanded to 11 countries with high market potential, including Vietnam, South Korea, Pakistan, Mexico and Turkey
Reporter: Israel is renowned for its technology in the field of electronics, such as flash drives, instant messaging tools, etc., which were invented or developed by Israelis. Can you give a brief introduction of the electronics industry in Israel?
AviHeftz: Israel's electronics industry is a world leader. It is one of the few countries in the world that is well known in the field of electronic information, especially in the design and production of semiconductor products. Many famous high-tech companies are distributed in the northern coastal areas of Israel. For example, Haifa gathers the world's leading multinational companies, such as Microsoft and Google, etc. There are about 8,000 companies and 150,000 scientific and technological personnel in Haifa Science and Technology Park, which has close contact with global consumer electronics, components and semiconductor manufacturers.
Reporter: Most Israeli companies are engaged in chip design and development. In the end product field, it is difficult to see Israeli companies' products. Is this a characteristic of Israeli companies?
AviHeftz: Israeli companies are mainly engaged in the design of chips or components, very little in the production of end products, so your judgment is correct. Because Israeli technology is mostly used in-house, it is rarely seen by consumers.
The Israelis are mainly engaged in basic research and development, such as chip design in audio and video, memory devices and so on. The flash drive was invented in Israel, as were Intel's Centrino and Pentium 4 processors, as well as the image processing chips and touch screens found in DVDS.
Reporter: China has some of the world's most famous companies, such as Hisense, Haier, Huawei and ZTE, but in some areas Israeli companies have more technological advantages. How do you see the prospects of cooperation between Israeli companies and Chinese companies?
AviHeftz: Israeli companies have a lot of prospects for cooperation with Chinese companies, and Chinese companies also have strong technological capabilities. In July, we will go to China to visit several Chinese companies, such as Hisense, Haier, and so on. We hope to have a good cooperation with them. In 1994, the first time I went to Hong Kong, China to attend an electronics show, I saw a lot of high-tech consumer electronics products and a lot of big Chinese electronics companies, which was very lucky. Today's cooperation between Israeli companies and Chinese companies will create more opportunities and markets.
Israel's electronics industry alone is worth $2 billion a year in semiconductor design, mainly exported to Japan, the United States, South Korea and China. Many of the world's electronics companies do their product design and market planning in Israel. China is one of the most promising markets, and Israel will strengthen cooperation with China in this field. We will focus on recommending 40-50 Israeli companies to China, such as Modu, Lumus, Explay, etc.
Israel's excellent performance in electronic technology also makes us have a higher development goal, how to better develop the electronic technology industry.
